Located in Costa Mesa, CA — TalentPop is a fast-growing Customer Experience Management Agency looking to bring on a new Payroll Bookkeeping Specialist to the team! TalentPop has experienced exponential growth, and we are actively seeking a Payroll Bookkeeping Specialist to join the internal accounting & finance team. This person will proactively manage the organization's HMO process, enhance overall HMO operations, ensure timely booking of payroll financials, and maintain seamless payroll management while supporting the company's continued growth.
Responsibilities
As the Payroll Bookkeeping Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing the enrollment and maintenance of members who are a part of TalentPop’s Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). This role involves closely working with HR and the organization's healthcare providers to ensure accurate member enrollment. You will regularly audit the organization's HMO costs and prepare any associated bookings. You will also manage employee HMO deductions / related schedules and prepare the coordinating accounting entries.
Key Responsibilities
HMO Process Management
- Coordinate with HR to audit incoming HMO invoices and ensure the accuracy of enrolled members
- Audit HMO invoice costs to ensure compliance with agreed-upon terms and coordinate revisions with the correct stakeholders based on discrepancy findings
- Prepare and post all bookings related to HMO invoices & costs in compliance with GAAP
- Track and manage employee HMO deductions and related deduction schedules in coordination with HR
- Prepare and post all bookings related to HMO deductions in compliance with GAAP
Collaboration
- Respond to inquiries regarding HMO enrollment, deductions, and journal entry bookings in a professional and timely manner
- Resolve discrepancies and coordinate with other departments and vendors as needed
General
- Conduct regular audits to ensure the integrity of payroll data
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and workflows for efficiency
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to align payroll processes with organizational goals

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Knowledgeable of general accounting cycles, account treatments, and framework (U.S. GAAP preferred but experience with IFRS also okay!)
- 5+ years of Bookkeeping/Accounting Experience is REQUIRED
- Previous experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role, preferably in the Philippines
- Highly proficient or advanced with Microsoft Excel REQUIRED
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online is a plus
- Reliable Internet Connection and Reliable Laptop/Computer Device (Back Up ISP Required)
